Verse of the Day

“The remnant in the province, who survived the exile, are in great trouble and disgrace. [HCSB] Nehemiah 1:3a

The expression of compassion is an action. To have compassion on a neighbour in need of help is not just in words, but requires one to do something; anything which you feel will enliven their burden. We are told here that when Nehemiah asked about home, even though he received some bad news, it didn’t just end there. He did something (vs. 4). Sometimes, you may feel that the little you could do will be of no use to the person in need, but you will never know the length or the depth of that help / how far it could go until you’ve tried it. You never know, you just may be the Nehemiah that someone near you needs to encourage their faith in #Jesus in their hour of need. What say you? #NehemiahChallenge #Tryhelpingsomeonetoday #Verseoftheday

Verse of the Day

The LORD your God fought for you! [GWT] Joshua 23:3b

The Lord may have granted you a momentous/substantial/major breakthrough, after which may have followed a long period of drought. It is possible that during the long drought, you may have forgotten that there was once a time in your life when it appeared nothing could ever go wrong, when you felt the Lord was fighting for you. It is true that oftentimes the period of drought may be as a consequence of not-being in right standing with God. Check your standing with the Lord to make sure you’re alright with Him. However, to think that the Lord no longer has your back, or looks after you, is a lie from the pit of hell :). What did we learn from our #Jeremiahchallenge that the Lord said concerning us? EXACTLY! In Jer. 31:3, Jehovah, creator of the heavens and the earth said “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness”. Meaning, even if we were to return His loved back in the post to Him, smash it to a million pieces or give it to another man / woman, still doesn’t change the fact that He has loved us with a love that cannot be changed, and so cannot un-love us. And since He cannot un-love us, surely He cannot have stopped fighting for us! Do you see where I’m getting to :)? He fought for us once, He is still fighting for us, and till the end of our days, He will continue to fight for us. #Have faith in God! You will still see that goodness of the Lord that may have eluded you for so long in this land of the living. #JoshuaChallenge #Verseoftheday

Verse of the Day

Not a single one of all the good promises the LORD had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled; everything he had spoken came true. [NLT] Joshua 21:45

God promised Abraham to give his descendants (the family of Israel) the land of Canaan as their possession (Genesis 17:8), and not only did they possess it, they are still dwelling there till this day – in spite of every challenge that came their way. Every promise, every single one of them, as innumerable as they all were His promises to His friend Abraham, to Abraham’s descendants, every single one of them all came to pass. Now check this, What Promises has Jehovah given to you, and because it’s been a few days/months/years since you’ve had them, you’re now in quandary, wondering if they will ever happen? Yesterday we learnt that Jesus #Christ will be to His people what their faith needs and what the circumstance requires. Do you need Him to give you peace while He’s preparing a way to make His promises happen? Ask Him for it. Come-what-may, regardless of how fiercest the storm you’re facing maybe, one thing is certain. God’s promises to you will NEVER EVER GO UNFULFILED. You can bet your life of Him. His promises will surely come to pass in your life, now that I’m certain of! #JoshuaChallenge #Verseoftheday

Verse of the Day

When Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you one of us or one of our enemies?” He answered, “Neither one! I am here as the commander of the LORD’s army.” [GWT] Joshua 5:13-14a

Jesus Christ will be to his people what their faith needs and what the circumstance requires. To Abraham (whom for many years was told was going to father nations, but still remained childless), God visited him in the form of a traveller (Genesis 18:1), to encourage his faith, and to remind him of the fulfilment of His promise to him. Not long after that visit the child of promise was given to Him. In this verse, God visited Joshua as a man of war. You see, after the death of Moses and Joshua’s take up of the leadership, Jericho stood between them and the conquest of Canaan, the land of promise. I wonder what might have been going through the mind of this newly made leader, and the mental struggles he would have been going through. At the critical moment when God’s help was needed, Jesus, the captain of the hosts of the Lord, the leader of all that vast army of unseen confederates, who are destined to marshal the forces of nature, came to his aide, came to help Joshua.” And with Him by Joshua’s side, His first battle as the new leader was won. I wonder what would have happened to his faith after that. A boost I’m sure. #Jesus is still in the business of appearing to/visiting people. What kind of help do you require from Jesus? Did you know that He is also the Prince of peace? #JoshuaChallenge #Verseoftheday
