Verse of the Day
I had not told anyone about the plans God had put in my heart for Jerusalem. [NLT] Nehemiah 2:12b
After Nehemiah had considered the matter, thought it through thoroughly by doing his homework (we are told when no one was looking he surveyed the magnitude of the work that needed to be done), and the decision on the action to be taken made, he then revealed to the people around him what he planned to do. He thought it prudent to conceal the plans He felt God had given to him from the people until all the necessary procedures for a successful execution was in place. And of course when he finally told the people, in vs 19, we are told that there were a group of people who on hearing his plans opposed him. The opposition Nehemiah faced isn’t an uncommon one. Has anyone ever told you that what you planned/wanted/desired to do was a rather difficult task? Isn’t that a form of opposition? When opposition came, because of how well Nehemiah had guarded his plans, it was too late for them to stand in the way. Not only that, your response in the face of opposition is just as important. When faced with opposition how do you respond? Nehemiah responded to those opposing his plans from God in vs. 20 by saying “The God of heaven will help us succeed”. And indeed with the help of God, succeed they did.
Have you ever wondered what could have happened to Nehemiah’s plans, had he not concealed it to begin with? Your plans stand a better chance of success when guarded well and enabled by the help of Jesus. #NehemiahChallenge #Verseoftheday
