“Man Up”

“If you have raced with people on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses? If you stumble in safe country, how will you manage in the thickets by the Jordan?” Jeremiah 12:5 [NIV]
In our bible reading today, Jeremiah had been complaining to God and the way God responded to Him is amazing. You see in life we will always face trials of many kinds and of varying degrees.

When Jeremiah was complaining to God regarding what was happening around him, it was almost as if God was telling him to ‘man up’. As in, if you think the challenges you’re facing is a lot, how are you going to do when the rest comes? Jesus told us in John 16:33; that as long as we are in this world troubles, trials, they will come, BUT we need to be courageous. Why? Because He (Jesus) has already overcome them all for us. So in a way God was telling Jeremiah (and us) that we can’t just give up at the first sign of trouble. As a professional, in order to get a qualification you need to sit through a test, so why are we struggling to see challenges as our stepping stones to be promoted? This same Jeremiah whom God told in Jeremiah 1:3 how He had set Him apart for greatness, did he think greatness translated to a life of sitting in the gardens doing nothing? NO? Friends, it’s time you started seeing challenges as a sign of how important you are in Christ, and the greater its size, the bigger the testimony. And have faith in God, Jesus said, He has already won, so you know, regardless of how fierce the challenges may be, you will certainly be victorious. This is not the time to give up!
