Life will not always be favourable!

Verse of the Day

I can do all this through him who gives me strength. [NIV] Philippians 4:13

Philippians 4:13 is probably one of the most quoted Bible verses and apparently a favourite among us all which has become a catchall phrase to mean “whatever I feel like doing God is going to give me the power to do it right there and succeed”. Really? But somehow I don’t think that was what the apostle Paul (who at the time was writing as a prisoner to Christians in the ancient city of Philippi) meant. I believe He was speaking of “the secret of being content in any and every situation”, not necessarily about God giving him favourable circumstances all the time. Sometimes life will not be favourable. Sometimes what you set out to do may yield unexpected disappointing results. How then do you deal with it? How then do you deal with the disappointments that life throws at you? Someone once said, a more accurate definition of our much loved bible verse is that “there are benefits of having and trusting Jesus Christ in our day to day lives”. There are benefits of His life, His death and resurrection regardless of what the outcomes of our personal goals are. Just because some of your set goals doesn’t work doesn’t mean His strength is no longer available or at work in you. It doesn’t matter the challenges, the situations, the bad news, Christ is still there with you and if you’ve made up your mind to hold onto His promises you will not let the disappointments prevent you from living the life God created you to live. A life of Victory, regardless of what life throws at you. It His strength which is working in you that gives you that victory to overcome challenges and not let the challenges overpower you. That come what may, even if the sun refuses to shine, you are content in the knowledge that Christ Jesus is working it all out for you, and one day everything will finally fall into place. Things may not be working out right now, but don’t let that disturb your peace; hold onto Him, ask for His strength to help you to hold on, until you get to end!

Verse of the Day

“Spurred on by the king’s command, the couriers went out, and the edict was issued in the citadel of Susa. The king and Haman sat down to drink, but the city of Susa was bewildered” [NIV] Esther 3:15

We all remember the story of Mordecai and Haman, one a Jew who refused to bow down in fear or reverence of the other. And how this burned Haman, for he was a man of so much wealth and decorated by the king (Esther 1:1; 3:1). And for this single reason hatched a plan not just to destroy Mordecai, but also all the people of his race (Esther 3:1-15). It is interesting to read that when Haman thought he had succeeded in winning over the king and effecting his plan, that was indeed the time that the Lord had raised help for the Jewish people. It’s even more interesting how the plans of destruction that Haman planned for Mordecai was visited upon Haman. If we have in anyway been engaged in dispersing unwholesome behaviour towards others, let us make it a point to repent of it and seek the forgiveness of God. But we are encouraged, encouraged because every problem that comes our way is not worth losing our joy over; because in the end, God has the solution to all of our problems and will not let it destroy us. Now that is worth remembering when challenges come! #Verseoftheday #Devotional #Bible #Jesus #Challenges #Enemies #Esther

Battle for the vision!

Verse of the Day

Announce this among the nations: Prepare yourselves for war. Wake up the warriors. Have all the warriors come near and attack. [GWT]Joel 3:9

This is the time for the warrior within us, the war like qualities in us to wake up. We may have fallen asleep on that project, on that goal, on that vision for so long, but it’s time to wake up! It’s time we re-engaged ourselves. It’s time we revived them all over again. It’s time we stayed resolute in our thinking, in our focus, and persisted till the very end. In the book of 2 Samuel 23:8-39 David’s mighty men were mentioned. There was a reason why they were mentioned. There was a reason why their exploits and achievements were mentioned. There was also a reason why in 2 Samuel 23:24 thirty (30) of them were made mentioned. There may have been others, but these 30 distinguished themselves. They didn’t give up on the vision; they didn’t give up on the goal. I don’t know about you, but I sure want to be among those whose names are mentioned among those who did Greater exploits. But to do greater exploits, we can’t just be sitting around on our backside sleeping! No far from it! We need to activate the words of God concerning our life by speaking His words and believing them. We need to refuse to let our life be intimidated, oppressed, harassed, and tormented by the hard work it needs to do to get to where it desires to be! And we need to be of good courage. Be of sound mind; be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Trust and rely on Him solely and God will never disappoint you. It’s time to get those wheels moving again! It’s time to be resolute to the end! It’s time for War! #Verseoftheday #Devotional #Bible #Jesus #Challenges #Vision #Goal #War #HolyWar #Battle #BattleForTheVision

You don’t just need access you need possession!

Verse of the Day

Never stop praying. [NLT] 1 Thessalonians 5:17

You may get tired or praying, it may become monotonous, it may become boring, and you may feel it may not be yielding any fruits. But today I am reminded that if you pray, and keep on praying without stopping on a particular issue, The Lord will most definitely come through on that promise. Is there a situation you’ve been seeking the face of God on? Is there a much needed change you desire from God? Then don’t stop petitioning Him. Keep on persevering in your prayers and in no time you will start to see the fruits of your answered prayers. The Lord is always near to those who call Him. Don’t just give up, pray your way out of that situation, and you’ll be joyful that you persevered to the very end. Prayer gives you access to that key you need to your breakthrough, but more importantly praying without ceasing gives you possession of the key to unlocking the doors to your breakthroughs! Yeah I said it. You don’t just need access; you need to take possession of it! And when you’ve made up your mind not to stop praying, you’re already walking into your answered prayers! So which of the two would you prefer, access or taking possession? I know which one I would prefer, and it is my prayer that the Lord Jesus will continue to strengthen you as you pray your way out of every challenge that’s been making a mockery of the presence of the Omnipotence in your life. You will reap the fruits of your prayers, if and only if you don’t give up! #Verseoftheday #Devotional #Bible #Jesus #Challenges #Prayer #PrayerGivesAccess #ContinuousPrayerGivesPossession #DontStopPraying
