Verse of the Day
You, LORD, hear the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry, [NIV] Psalm 10:17
Life is a series of problems, it’s either you’re in one now, you’re just coming out of one, or you’re getting ready to go into another one. The reason for this is that God is more interested in your character than your comfort; God is more interested in making your life holy than He is in making your life happy. We can be reasonably happy here on earth, but that’s not the goal of life. The goal is to grow in character, in Christ likeness. No matter how good things are in your life, there is always something bad that needs to be worked on. And no matter how bad things are in your life, there is always something good you can thank God for. [Rick Warren]. So what if life, more particularly your life is filled with the high bits and the low bits, God say, throughout it all, He hears our desires, He encourages us through them all and listens to us when we call Him. So we are never abandoned. We are never alone. So it doesn’t matter what phase in life’s journeys you’ve found yourself in, remember He is always, forever by your side. You will get through them all, and well too if you don’t give up. #Verseoftheday #Devotional #Bible #PurposeOfLife #Depression #Faithful #God #NotGivingUp #Focused
Verse of the Day
Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you. [NIV] Psalm 9:10
Never in the past, so far now and the years to come has God forsaken / or will He ever forsake those who faithfully cling on to him. It doesn’t matter what that trial may be, it doesn’t matter if you’re being hunted like a Jackal, it doesn’t matter if you feel abandoned; if you hold onto Him, He will surely come through for you. The Psalmist testified that since his youth and up until his old age, he has never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging for bread (Psalm 37:25). That’s a testimony worth remembering. The Lord has never forsaken anyone, and He’s not about to start now with you. So keep on holding and trusting Jesus. He will surely come through for you. #VerseoftheDay #EncourageSomeoneToday #Devotional #Bible #Jesus #Depression #Faithful #God
Verse of the Day
“How great you are, O Sovereign LORD! There is no one like you. We have never even heard of another God like you! [NLT] 2 Samuel 7:22
In his name, nature, persons, and perfections, purposes, promises, and works: for his essence and attributes, for his greatness and goodness, for what he is in himself, for what he is to his people, and has done for them: there is but one God, the living and true God, the former and maker of all things; all others are but fictitious and factitious gods. [John Gill’s Exposition]. I don’t know about you, but I have searched and searched and found no God as good as Him. He is beyond good, He is beyond faithful. He has never let me down, and He sure can be counted on. #SamuelChallenge #Verseoftheday
As for God, His way is blameless; The word of the LORD is tried; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. Psalm 18:30 [NASB]
I woke up this morning with a list of a few things I was unhappy about. My first thought wasn’t “thank you Lord Jesus for another beautiful day” which was usually my response at the sight of day break, but instead, I woke up #tired, irritated, upset, unsettled as my mind ran through a list of things which had probably been etched in my mind of thinking just before I sank deep into sleep the night before. But as I sat here going through my list of testimonies “Overwhelming powerful, awesome, wonderful, excellent, beyond belief/imaginable things that God has done for me” I couldn’t help but realise God’s word, His promises to me have not only been certain/sure, but have been true, tried and tested. It beggars belief, that after everything, EVERYTHING God has done for me, I would sink so low to wake up being ungrateful. He has never failed before in my life, and He’s not going to start to fail now, He has never been unfaithful, – in fact to be truthful I have found Him to be constant, consistent and always on time. His love never changing, His favour has been so indescribable. And to top it all, His Words are not for me only but for you too, for everyone. Your day/life may not be as you wanted or planned it, but having #Jesus makes all the difference. Don’t just take my word for it, try Him yourself.
Thank you Lord Jesus for restoration! I have hidden His word in my heart – Can’t be having a repeat of this morning again 🙂
Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. [NLT] Philippians 1:3
There are still no words to express my gratitude. Only thanksgiving. God has been faithful, He is faithful, and continues to remain faithful. Only He deserves the glory!
How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior! [NLT] Luke 1:47
There are sometimes you think, surely after everything, what I had planned and hoped for, may just never come through. That just maybe, every thought-process and hard work may have all been in vain. (Smiles :)). And then Jesus goes and surprises me, by frustrating the last minute glitches and hiccups, the “unexpected unexpected” 🙂 that tried to sabotage the translation of my dreams to a reality. Oh how my spirit rejoices in God my saviour. Today is a great day to be alive, a glorious day, and a day of destiny. Friends, look outside of your window, see beyond where you are standing, and you will see that every hard work that you’ve put into making your plans a success this year has not been a waste, Jesus our Firm foundation has seen to it. And He will continue to surprise you throughout the rest of the year. It’s time to laugh out loud, count your blessings, and you will indeed be surprised to see what the Lord has done for you thus far. Your song has indeed changed. It’s a song of triumph ringing forth throughout the city, the county, the country and the continents! Hallelujah! Oh how my spirit rejoices in God my saviour!
For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not being merely human? What then is Apollos? What is Paul? [ESV] 1 Corinthians 3:4-5a
We may have much knowledge, yet still be oblivious to what is true. There are so many contentions, people quarrelling and squabbling among themselves; all of which are sad evidences of the state of life in the world we live in. Serving God, the creator of the entire Heaven and Earth is not about defending your faith – or your so called “#religion” – to the world. For indeed with Him there is no such thing as a religion, but instead, it’s all about a relationship which by its very nature is peaceable (not contentious) through which others gets to see His love. In our walk as #Christ-followers (Christians) we ought to make conscious efforts of imbibing His qualities in our daily lives. Of course that will not be easy, especially if there are people always trying to get into a dispute with you or you are the one who likes going around disputing with others :); but the decision to reflect Jesus’ qualities, is a start in that good direction. We were created to follow Christ, no one else, for only He is the true #foundation on which you can build a life worth living. #Any other foundation is an imitation!
