Success Is Relative

Verse of the day

And the man became rich and kept getting richer until he was very wealthy. [HCSB] Genesis 26:13

Isaac had become great because he listened to God and stayed in an area where many would have given up on because of the famine that had ravaged the land. And even though he was a foreigner/immigrant on a land he had no legal/lawful rights on, nor of any parental heritage, his obedience to God was rewarded, and God granted him success in that land. I’m sure after his success, he probably thought he had reached the peak, and therefore couldn’t get any better than what he had achieved. But the bible tells us that in spite of his great success, he still went forward in obtaining even more success. This means that even though he had reached his peak in becoming overwhelmingly successfully wealthy is all things; there was still room for him to become even greater than greatness in God. Isn’t it amazing how with God, there is indeed no limit! Now, are you in a place where you think you’ve become so successful in the areas of your Career, business, Ministry, finances that you’re thinking surely now that I’ve reached my peak, there’s no way I can advance any more than where I am? Are you about to exchange your life from what God has planned for you, because you’ve seemingly arrived? Regardless of how successful you think you’ve becomes, there is still so much more with God. Don’t get comfortable with all your past and present achievements, when with God there is still room for you to grow and attain much more height because that is the will and plan of God for your life. You may have attained a level of success, but God wants you to grow in your success. Stretch yourself, and keep your vision alive, there is still much more to attain with God.  #Verseoftheday #Devotional

Verse of the Day
Yes, they will sing about the LORD’s ways, for the glory of the LORD is very great. [NLT] Psalm 138:5
When we can praise God with our whole heart, we need not be unwilling for the whole world to witness our gratitude and joy in him. Those who rely on his loving-kindness and truth through Jesus Christ, will ever find him faithful to his word. If he spared not his own Son, how shall he not with him freely give us all things? If God gives us strength in our souls, to bear the burdens, resist the temptations, and to do the duties of an afflicted state, if he strengthens us to keep hold of himself by faith, and to wait with patience for the event, we are bound to be thankful.[Matthew Henry]

Verse of the Day

For it is contained in Scripture: Look! I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and honoured cornerstone, and the one who believes in Him will never be put to shame! [HCSB] 1 Peter 2:6

Your foundation is so important. Ancient elements of Jewish tradition considered the cornerstone to be a special stone in the temple and as a title for the Messiah. Now, God declared in Isaiah 28:16 that He placed a stone in Zion, a chosen and honoured cornerstone, and here Peter identified #Jesus as not only that stone mentioned in Isaiah, appointed by God, but also as the most honoured/precious/valued #cornerstone; the Chief Stone from whom the whole structure takes its shape. How about that? The shape of your life is determined by the cornerstone you’re built upon! One doesn’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that a stone of value, of greater worth, of strong excellent characterises will help a building stand the test of time. A cornerstone can’t just be any ordinary stone; it has to be quite extra-ordinary. Question is the cornerstone shaping your life, what kind of stone is it? How is it shaping your life? Still confused? Are you ready to try making Jesus, the tried and tested Chief stone your Cornerstone? #PeterChallenge #Verseoftheday

Verse of the Day

You did not abandon them in the wilderness because of Your great compassion. During the day the pillar of cloud never turned away from them, guiding them on their journey. And during the night the pillar of fire illuminated the way they should go. [HCSB] Nehemiah 9:19

You see, and there you were thinking you’ve been abandoned and left for dead all along. #God, creator of the heavens and the earth gave you life (vs 6) that was why you were able to wake up in the morning. He found you worthy and not worthless because of the finished work of #Christ, and for that reason kept His covenant and promise of never leaving you or forsaking you, but I guess you were too dejected to notice that. He saw your suffering and heard your cry that was why He came and gave you the miraculous sign of the gift of health, and sound mind. By day as you walked albeit mechanically doing your daily chores, it was He who gave you the day’s light to guide you throughout your journeys, and by night, when it became dark, He helped you find your way to safety, amidst the chaos and the dangers that lurked in the night. Your tummy rumbled and immediately signalled you were hungry, but He made sure that you never went a day without food, and water to quench your thirsty life. He was to you that unwanted help that gave you the 101 on how to survive and live the good life through Him, through His WORD. But I guess, because it wasn’t like physically winning the Euro-millions lottery and driving the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, things you felt that would show for definite that He was with you, you couldn’t quite see that indeed through it all, only He was right by your side. Today He has given you another chance to see your life through His eyes. He has given you the gift of life, health and of sound mine, again for a purpose. See to it that this time around you don’t squander it; that you see Him for Who He is! Your God who is always there for you, Who will never abandon you regardless of the fiercest of storms! #NehemiahChallenge #Verseoftheday
