Verse of the Day

And to whom is all the desire of Israel turned, if not to you and your whole family line?” Saul answered, “But am I not a Benjamite, from the smallest tribe of Israel, and is not my clan the least of all the clans of the tribe of Benjamin? Why do you say such a thing to me?” [NIV] 1 Samuel 9:20b-21

We’re probably very familiar with the story of the first anointed king over Israel, King Saul of Gibeah. We will not dwell on Saul’s rejection as King or why he wasn’t given as many chances as the other Kings after him, like David, but we will dwell on how God took a man of unimportant background to become the highest ranking man of the land. When he was confronted with the truth that he would be king, he did not let the fact that he came from a background that would disqualify him for the job bother him. I’m sure no one would have expected a king to come from the smallest tribe of Israel, Benjamin. But they did get one, and God qualified him. It doesn’t matter how small/humble your beginning/background may be, it still doesn’t mean that you cannot sit among kings, or be among those in the corridors of power! God has qualified you for greatness and in the end, that’s really all that matters! #VerseoftheDay #SamuelChallenge
