A Love like none other!

Verse of the Day

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. [NKJV] John 15:13

Through the words of Jesus in today’s Bible passage, He shows us how far our love for one another should be; even to the point of laying down of our lives for our friends; which is the highest instance of love shown to us all by Jesus. But what does friendship really mean to many today? Many of us today choose our friends based on what they have to offer, very rarely discovering the blessings of a genuinely true friendship. Thank God for Jesus, who is the finest example of what a true friend should be. His love for us is sacrificial, never selfish. And when He walked among men, He demonstrated it not only through his miracles but more fully through the humble service of washing His disciples’ feet (John 13:1-17), and then ultimately, when he laid down his life on the cross. Don’t you know that valuing your friend’s needs above your own, you’ll be on your way to loving like Jesus; and in the process gain a true friend for life? I don’t know about you, but having true friends is worth so much more than gaining false ones. Prayer: Lord Jesus, teach us how to love like You! We know it’s not going to be easy, but it will be worth it in the end. In Jesus name. Amen.

People will talk; don’t let the talk destroy you!

Verse of the day

But some people have missed this whole point. They have turned away from these things and spend their time in meaningless discussions. [NLT] [1 Timothy 1:6]

There will always be people who can overturn houses and homes with their mouths, i.e., people that are capable of #destroying families, business and even marriages by merely #speaking. Negative Words are powerful. We have examples of parents speaking negative words over the lives of their children, such words like “Child, you are stupid”, “You are an Idiot”, “You will never learn”, and the only thing the child grows learning is never to trust themselves; and since they’ve been branded as worthless, they end up believing it and think very little of themselves. #Negative #words are #hurtful. There will also be a group of people who will speak negative words around us, with the intension to discourage, derail and destroy us. The word of #God reminds us that this will happen and have been happening from time, it’s not a new phenomenon, and the onus now is how we choose to deal with such words. Instead of encouraging one another in Christ, and in His love, many have turned to wicked and destructive talks. Don’t let such people destroy your peace! It’s time you identified the purpose behind the vain and treacherous talk and remind your hearts whom you are in Christ, and that you’re not what they are saying. Don’t get me wrong, being on the receiving end of such talks will be hurtful, but never forget who you are in Christ. You are loved, precious, cherished and highly sought after – Jesus even gave His life for you, that’s just how important you are! And parents, who carelessly toss cruel words to their children, don’t you think it’s about time you stopped? I declare that every mouth speaking evil/negative words against you, with the intension of destroying/derailing your destiny will be stopped in Jesus name. Amen.

Without Love, Faith and Hope is dead

Verse of the Day

Three things will last forever–faith, hope, and love–and the greatest of these is love. [NLT] 1 Corinthians 13:13

It is true that the value of faith cannot be disputed in that it often motivates us to move forward even when the odds are stacked up against us. More so, it helps us to be hopeful, as having hope when facing impossible situations helps us to see and get to the finishing line. And so in life, to live without faith and hope, makes living rather difficult. However, here the Apostle Paul reminds us the significance of Love over faith and hope. Which begs the question, what is so amazing about love, and why is it greater than Faith and hope, both of which you need to survive challenging/difficult situations? I guess for one, it has to do with the fact that, it was for the sake of LOVE that Our Father in heaven sent His son Jesus into the world, to die on the cross and to act as a ransom for all our indiscretions /sins. And through this wonderful action of His, He showed us that without love, we would have still been in our sin and therefore would not have received redemption. And without that redemption, our faith would have been non-existent. And how can we have hope without faith? Indeed, we are to be pitied, for what kind of life would that have been? But thank #God for #Jesus #Christ. Thank God for our salvation. Thank God for our Faith in Him that builds hope in our lives, and most importantly thank you Lord Jesus for #Love, for without Love, #faith and #hope would not exist! #Devotional #Verseoftheday #WhatILearntFromPaul

There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends [NLT] John 15:13
Hengstenberg in his opinion said that Jesus was telling us here, and I quote: “The love to you is of so consummate {consummate here meaning, perfect, excellent, flawless complete absolute} a character, that its object and purpose is seen in my laying down my life for my friends;”

#Jesus loved us so much that He was willing to die for that love. That was how much in love He was with us. It may have been unrequited at the time, but he didn’t care because His love was a selfless one. Now, I’m not advocating that on this day that we should go to this extent in order to show our loved ones how much they mean to us (nahhh bruv, forget that! 🙂 ), but that’s what love really meant to Jesus. You were that important to HIM! Now, when we say we love someone, how much do we really do? Really think about it! As you celebrate your loved ones today (because contrary to what some may say, it’s not just a couple’s day 🙂 ), take out the time to appreciate all the wonderful things that makes them exceptional. Loving one another is not just about how he/she makes you feel, or during the good times, loving you, means “in-spite” of everything, I choose to love you. Loving you means that yes you do get on my last nerve 🙂 , but I choose to see and celebrate all the wonderful things that is you, that make you unique. Loving you is a choice that I’m happy with it, I may not show it all the time, but you know :*. Thank you Lord Jesus for being the embodiment of love, a love that was not selfish, conditional or forceful. Thank you Lord for showing me how to #love! ❤ ❤ ❤
